The American Royal goat is bred on a a foundation of 100% South African Savanna blood. Color is allowed in the breed standards of the American Royal. Breed up programs to Purebred are encouraged. Breeders are challenged to develop their American Royal herds with a strong emphasis on field hardiness and performance, while keeping a constant eye on sound body traits. Yes color is totally acceptable in the American Royal herdbook; however, this is the place to work your performance programs. The American Royal herdbook is not simply a color based option, performance testing is encouraged.
